Center for Artificial Muscles
The Center for Artificial Muscles (CAM) in Neuchâtel, Switzerland is working with the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Inselspital Bern and University Hospital Zurich to developartificial muscles. The first planned use of the new technology will be to improve the pumping capacity of the heart in patients with minor cardiac insufficiency. The great advantage over traditional procedures to support heart function is that the artificial muscle can be inserted without a major operation.
